The Elements and Principles of Event Design

Event design principles

We as humans got so caught up in the routine. Every day we do the same things, interact with the same world. Experience nearly the same situations. It seems like a never-ending cycle that’s only time-consuming. Assuming that every day discolored gray, the event is the whole RGB spectrum. In other words, events bring change to the life we are living. No matter how small things can be different, But it is usually for good causes. The downside is that to create a memorable event, there will be some serious design and planning going around. I thought that events only get planned. I never heard of event designing. I mean how can it be different than event planning? Rhetorically speaking, it is assumed that the event design is how are things aesthetically supposed to be. While the planning is what brings it all to action.

Designing needs an artistic mind, And everyone in the world is gifted but not with the same gift. Taking a deeper look into event designing prominently takes aesthetical things like decorations into further analysis. It falls under the spectrum of the number “7”, a lot of things have to do with this number, and especially if there is something creative and Artistic related to it. So ask yourself, why is event design important? For every event, there is an expected number of people that will adhere to it. These people can the potential buyers, or they could be future investors. Maybe even public figures and these people do have an influence on their followers on social media that’s why they call it “influencers“. Whether they are famous people or potential buyers either for a product or for the whole company. These people will make an impression about the company based on the event. The criteria of the impression will be based on several components, and obviously, They are the seven elements.

  • Space - Spacious

It is the location, where it is based? Is it indoors or outdoors? Is it a landscape with a view or inside a castle or a mansion? Not to mention of course the entries according to the number of visitors.

  • Light - Influential

The event timing and location will influence how the lightings are set. For instance, if the event is in the outdoors during sunlight and it will end before dawn, in that case, mild to no light is needed. However, if it’s indoors or during night time lighting aspects are needed and there are a variety of them. There are things like LEDs, spotlights, and a hybrid of them.

  • Forms - Layout

It is the architecture of the space, things like the furniture, and the color choice that creates a vibe and balance to the landscape. For instance, if there are tables how does it look like it shall be circular or linear? Maybe creating a radical outline that could be seen from a Birdseye as forming a familiar shape that we interact within every day.

  • Color - Mood

What color scheme will you use for an event design? Always remember the colors implement a soul to everything. Because every color psychologically affects part of every individual brain. You can check our Color psychology here (Hyperlink).

  • Texture - Sense

Understanding how the brain works can make you hack it through sensations alteration. In other words, the visual context creates a stimulus to the brain that even if the surface is two dimensional, it will stimulate it to three dimensional. So the art of texture is in detail. The key to the Brain is Art.

  • Lines - Harmonic

Static and dynamic. Static lines Can be either horizontal or vertical. However, dynamic lines could be curves and angled lines.

  • Pattern - Offbeat

Random mess. Artistic chaos. It is the aesthetic touch you add to the event. It is how to create perfectly balanced and random patterns the blend within each other. See, event designing requires more recognition and planning. It is something creative and visionary, and Tasmimak Adopts both of these elements.
